USPS Files for Rate Increase

On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, the USPS filed its Notice of Market-Dominant Price Change with the PRC. As predicted in the March 25 issue of Mailers Hub News (login required), the Postal Service is seeking the maximum possible increase the rate authority will allow. As stated in the filing,

The Postal Service has available approximately 7.8 percentage points of pricing authority for compensatory classes, including banked authority, and approximately 9.8 percentage points of pricing authority for the Periodicals class, which was non-compensatory due to its attributable cost exceeding revenue for the class.

The date for these new rates to take effect, barring any unlikely issues with the PRC, is July 14, 2024. To review the filing in full, click HERE for the listing on the PRC website.

More details to come in the next issue of Mailers Hub News, and in our April 16 webinar, “The April Rate Increase”, dedicated to addressing this latest filing and how it will impact you and your business.
